THE INTERCULTURAL DIMENSION IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING: VIETNAMESE UNIVERSITY ENGLISH TEACHERS’ VOICES

In recent decades, there has been increasing interest in implementing the intercultural dimension (ID) foreign language teaching to enhance students’ communicative competence (ICC), capability interact across linguistic and cultural boundaries. This article reports on a study that examines English (ELT) of two Vietnamese university teachers (VUETs) investigate if how they implemented ID their teaching. Situating within qualitative case approach, we collected data from interviews, classroom observations, documents. Findings this show these have not yet fully lessons. More specifically, could transmit knowledge students; however, develop attitudes, skills, or awareness. When providing knowledge, primarily relied prescribed textbooks’ content understanding. The sheds light influential factors for VUETs’ ELT practices offers implications enhancing ICC.
